‘Sagada Orange’ vendor accosted for faulty weighing scales, mislabeling

A vendor selling “Sagada orange” at Mines View was accosted last July 29, 2022 over a swindling complaint.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong was sent a copy of the post about a Mines View vendor lying about the origin of the oranges being sold and using an intentionally padded weighing scale and immediately called the attention of the permits and licensing division.

Permits and licensing division chief Allan Abayao deployed a team with the public order and safety division, the city treasury office and the barangay to the area.

Abayao said they confiscated the defective weighing scale, stopped the selling and confiscated the products.

It was found that the vendor had no permit to sell.

The vendor was issued a warning over her deceptive marketing strategy and her other violations.

Abayao also warned other vendors engaged in the same pernicious practices.

The complainant in a succeeding post lauded the city government for its swift action. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
