More than 2M worth of Marijuana burned, 2 drug personalities arrested

Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad Benguet – (March 23, 2021) –  More than P2 Million worth of marijuana plants were eradicated while two drug personalities were arrested in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Cordillera.

Reports from PCOL REYNALDO PASIWEN, Provincial Director of Benguet PPO, revealed that a marijuana eradication conducted in Mt. Puso, Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet on March 19, 2021 resulted to the discovery of 2, 550 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants cultivated in a 670-square meter land area and amounting to Php 510,000.00.

Also, on March 21, 2021 at Sitio Bekes and Sitio Culiang of the same barangay, operatives discovered plantation sites where 7,600 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants were cultivated in an estimated 1,100-square meter public lot with a Standard Drug Price of Php1,520, 000.00

All discovered marijuana plants were uprooted and burned on-site while operatives are conducting inquiries to identify the cultivators for filing of appropriate charges against them in court.

Additionally, two drug personalities were arrested in buy-bust operations in Benguet and Kalinga.

A High Value Individual identified as Henry Taya-an Tawatao, 54 years old, provincial security guard, was arrested on March 18, 2021 at Purok 6, Bulanao, Tabuk City after selling a sachet of suspected shabu weighing more or less 0.85 gram with market value of Php5,780.00.

On the other hand, on March 21, 2021 a buy-bust operation at Ansodeng, Ambuclao, Bokod, Benguet resulted to the arrest of Eusebio Cabanes Lamsis aka Eweng, 58, hog raiser in the confiscation of seven heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu total value of Php285.60.

 Suspects are currently under the custody operating units and will be facing charges for Violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002. (PROCOR RPIO)
