Ifugao guv appeals for strict compliance with health protocols

LAGAWE, Ifugao, May 12 (PIA) – – Governor Jerry Dalipog appealed  anew to the public to strictly  comply with  the minimum health standards as the province recorded cases of COVID-19 UK and South African variants.

“Everyone is hereby advised again to strictly observe and follow the health protocols by wearing facemask and face shield, observe physical distancing, washing and disinfecting of hands and practicing proper coughing etiquettes and submission to the body temperature at all times,” Dalipog said.

As of May 5, the province  has recorded a total of 11 UK variants in the municipalities of Banaue, Alfonso Lista, Lagawe, Lamut and Hingyon while the two who were found to have the South African variant are from the towns of Lagawe and Lamut.

The governor requested all local government units not to allow home isolation/quarantine with these new variants and health workers are enjoined to strictly adhere to the guidelines of the Department of Health’s Memorandum Order No. 2021-0128.

All forms of mass gatherings should be avoided,  hence the public is advised to refrain from holding and or attending mass and social gatherings. Persons  below 18 years old and those over 65 years old are required to stay at home at all times.

“Movements of all persons shall be limited to accessing essential goods and services, work in offices or industries permitted to operate and other activities permitted per Inter Agency Task Force resolutions,” Dalipog stated.

As of May 11, 2021, Ifugao registered a cumulative total of 3,560 confirmed cases with 2,510 recoveries, 35 deaths and 1,015 active cases. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
