City official hopeful of downtrend in Covid cases
“Hopefully we will have a downtrend already in coronavirus disease 2019 (covid-19) cases in the city these coming days although we cannot say exactly when this will happen.”
Thus, declared city administrator Engr. Bonifacio Dela Pena during the virtual management committee meeting, October 5, of local officials led by Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
He expressed his ‘cautious optimism’ based on the reports of Health Services Office head Dr. Rowena Galpo who said that cases of covid cases and attack rates have been decreasing while City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office chief Antonette Anaban said the number of locked down areas are on the downturn.
“Hopefully there will be a downtrend in the next few days because our health system is already overstressed,” Dela Pena said.
He also echoed the Mayor’s constant appeal for the public’s cooperation by adhering to minimum public health standards and helping each other in any way they can, especially in these trying times since the ‘government cannot do it alone’. Gaby B. Keith
