CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela– The City government here marked a history following the inauguration and blessing of Cagayan Valley’s first Local Government Unit (LGU)-owned tertiary school named City of Ilagan College (CIC), the ceremony was held at the campus grounds, Brgy. Lullutan, May 4.

During the event, the city council, represented by Mayor Josemarie L. Diaz, and Vice Mayor Jay Eveson C. Diaz formalized a partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement with Adamson University (AU), represented by its President, Fr. Daniel Franklin E. Pilario, and Dr. Rosula SJ Reyes, vice president for Academic Affairs.

“Education has always been the thrust of this administration”, said Diaz during his speech. Thus, the yearly appropriation for scholarship has been in the annual budget since 2006. According to Diaz, they have allotted PhP100 Million to cater to at least 6,000 scholars for their desire to serve even more students.

ICI’s initial academic offering will be in allied health programs. The license and accreditation with the Commission on Higher Education are still in process. Diaz made clear that they aim to welcome the first batch in August this year. “Tuloy-tuloy na po ang pagbubukas nito under the banner of Adamson University through the extension classes program”, said Diaz. “This is the fulfillment of our promise that education shall no longer be a privilege but a right made real,” he added.

ICI campus has approximately three hectares of land area. Its four-storey building includes a spacious auditorium. It is adjacent to the City of Ilagan Medical Center, leveraging immediate access to hands-on clinical training in a real health care setting. # Mae Barangan
