PHP31.3 MILLION WORTH OF MARIJUANA CROPS ERADICATED IN MOUNTAIN PROVINCE
A major eradication operation successfully destroyed marijuana plants worth Php31,360,000 along the borders of Sadanga, Mountain Province, and Tinglayan, Kalinga, on May 1, 2026.
A staggering 224,000 cannabis plants were discovered thriving across four plantation sites approximately 29,500 square meters.
At the first discovered plantation site, approximately 80,000 plants were cultivated on an estimated 10,000 square meters of land, valued at P16,000,000. The second site spanned about 5,000 square meters, where around 40,000 marijuana plants were grown, valued at P8,000,000. The third site covered approximately 4,000 square meters and yielded 20,000 of the illegal hemp, valued at P4,000,000. Finally, the fourth plantation site, with a land area of 10,500 square meters, produced 84,000 marijuana seedlings valued at P3,360,000.
However, no cultivator was arrested. Authorities will intensify their collaboration with the local government units of Kalinga and Mountain Province to track down those behind the illegal cultivation.
This high-impact eradication campaign was carried out under PNP OPLAN “GREEN SWEEP 2.0” jointly led by the local police units and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera- Mountain Province Provincial Office.
Through relentless and enhanced campaigns targeting marijuana cultivation, authorities remain committed to transforming Cordillera into a region free from the scourge of illegal drugs. ###
