The Municipality of Boac has enacted Municipal Ordinance No. 2021-312, an ordinance declaring Barangay Laylay as the Pansit Capital of Boac, Marinduque, and providing for the conduct of the annual Pansitan Festival as a key gastro-tourism activity of the municipality.

The said ordinance recognizes Barangay Laylay as a center of diverse and authentic pansit dishes, highlighting its long-standing culinary tradition and its growing role as a tourism destination for both local and visiting food enthusiasts. It further mandates the promotion and branding of Barangay Laylay as the Pansit Capital of Boac to strengthen local identity and stimulate economic activity.

The measure also institutionalizes the annual Pansitan Festival to be celebrated every May 25 in line with the Araw ng Laylay, featuring activities such as Pansit Street Dancing, Pansit Float Parade, and Pansit Cooking and Demo Exhibits, among others. This ordinance was principally authored by Hon. Aurelio J. Leva III, CE, and was enacted by the Sangguniang Bayan of Boac in 2021. This landmark ordinance reflects the Municipality of Boac’s commitment to preserving local culture, promoting culinary tourism, and empowering communities through sustainable and inclusive development. # Randy T.
