Across Skies and Seas, Education Reaches Dinagat

The Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation (CLFI) team took to the skies, crossed the seas, and traveled for nearly a full day to reach the Dinagat Islands in Northeastern Mindanao in November 2025. There, they launched the National FinLit and ALS Caravan for learners on the island at Tubajon Central Elementary School. The visit marked the 190th ALS Center supported by CLFI, where ICT learning tools were provided alongside training in financial literacy and Artificial Intelligence.

Beyond the launch, the event focused on strengthening communities through practical financial education. The CLFI team shared simple, easy-to-understand lessons on savings, budgeting, and responsible spending. Participants were introduced to basic digital tools and learned how Artificial Intelligence can support everyday financial tasks. A book-giving activity was also held to assist learners in need of additional study materials.

The Caravan continues to expand access to financial education for out-of-school youth and underserved groups. By bringing these learning sessions to areas with limited training opportunities, CLFI helps build financial confidence and supports local economic activity.

ALS partners in Tubajon joined the rollout, along with the CLFI team led by Executive Director Jonathan Batangan and the Cebuana Lhuillier Branch Support Group. The team also paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Simplicia Pedrablanca to explore opportunities for broader community outreach.

To date, CLFI has reached more than 180 locations nationwide through the Caravan. The program encourages communities to learn, practice, and share essential financial skills, and invites local partners in Tubajon to participate in future initiatives that promote stronger financial habits and sustainable community growth. #
