Agency/department heads report in punong barangay meeting
A fun run dedicated to clean elections, building inspection report and Oplan Karayan were among the city updates given by agency/department heads during the Punong Barangays meeting, Thursday, Nov. 6 at city hall.
Lara Carreon, Election Assistant representing Atty. John Paul Martin of Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Baguio office announced the registration for “Takbo Para Sa Tamang Pagboto” with gun start on Nov. 29, 4:30 AM at Lake Drive, Burnham Park.
“We celebrate 85 years of dedicated electoral service with a meaningful fun run promoting honest, fair and responsible voting,” with the theme, “One Mission, One Vision, One Commission,” it was stated in the flyers for the activity.
Registration fees are pegged the following; P300 for 3km, P400 for 5km, P500 for 10km; with race bibs, after race snacks, medals and certificates for top runners and finishers; and registration may be done at the Baguio COMELEC or any Benguet COMELEC Office, Carreon added.
City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO) head Archt. Johnny Degay reported on the progress of building inspection around the city which in 2023 there were 134 settled, 576 stopped, the number of complaints were 911 and 168 dismantled/demolished.
In 2024, 132 were settled at the CBAO, 388 constructions were stopped, there were 748 complaints and 24 were dismantled/demolished.
From January to Oct. 2025, 65 were settled, 293 constructions were stopped, there were 600 complaints and 11 were either dismantled or demolished.
Most of said constructions are on the outskirts, and some on parts with high and very high susceptibility to landslides. According to Archt. Degay, reporting could be done through the mobile numbers 0917-7458-638 (Building Management Division) and 0916-1589-338 (Investigation and Demolition Division).City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) Environment Management Division (EMD) head Sofronio Pascua reported on the river and waterways inspection in coordination with the Health Services Office (HSO), Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) and the barangay officials where the creek/waterway is located.
There will be continuing inspection, trash traps shall be installed, with notice of violations and sanitary orders for violations such as direct disposal from the toilet bowl, septic tank, and disposal of animal, solid and kitchen waste directly to the river, Engr. Pascua said.
A representative from the city accounting office also asked that year-end reports be submitted promptly, before the deadline in Jan. 2026.
