Online system for vital documents bared
The city’s Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) announced the availability of an online request, application and issuance system for vital documents to help in digitalizing transactions and significantly reduce long queues of people transacting business with the office.
Under the system, individuals, who are in the city or in other places, applying for the issuance of certified true copies of birth, death or marriage certificates can already apply online by accessing cris.baguio.gov.ph to do so.
Further, individuals who are requesting certified true copies of these documents on behalf of others must attach the requisite authorization from the concerned person who must be related to them up to the second degree of consanguinity or affinity.
John Michael Umali, LCRO administrative assistant, said that applicants or requestors will be notified within 24 hours of the approval of their requests after which they will be advised to immediately proceed to pay the required fees for the requested documents before the office releases these to them.
The development of the online system is aligned with the government’s digitalization initiative to help in enhancing the delivery of services and reducing the long queues of applicants for issuance of the certified true copies of their desired documents in the office.
Moreover, the LCRO is also working on the possibility that the requested documents will be sent to the addresses of the applicants or requestors through a courier in the future and that the necessary announcements will be made as soon as this is available for implementation.
Umali claimed that since the rollout of the online system last March, there had been 99 applicants or requestors who availed of the services and the office expects this number to significantly increase following the aggressive information and education campaign being done to promote the operation of the online system to facilitate the immediate issuance of the requested documents of the applicants or requestors.
The LCRO is in charge of the registration of the pertinent documents in the life of an individual such as birth, marriage and death and that it serves as a repository of the same for future reference.
He encouraged the public to avail of the online system when requesting the issuance of certified true copies of the desired documents to prevent them from being inconvenienced by the long queues in their office as they will be able to do so at their own pace anytime and anywhere. – Dexter A. See
