City mourns passing of noted Ibaloi lawyer and civic-leader
Mayor Benjamin Magalong ratified city council resolution no. 716, series of 2023, expressing the city’s deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of lawyer and businessman Moises Palasi Cating who passed away on November 18, this year, at 91.
“Born in Atok, Benguet in 1932, and a resident of Baguio city for 77 years, Atty. Cating dedicated his life and legal acumen to the better of the city’s people and the wider Cordillera region. His commitment extended beyond the courtroom, as evidenced by his active involvement in various civic and humanitarian organizations,” it stated.
The approved measure added: “He exemplified generosity by providing both moral and financial support to numerous worthy causes throughout his career. Cating’s enduring efforts to contribute to Baguio’s development, characterized by consistent personal contributions and generous donations, remained steadfast over time, showcasing a commitment that never waned.”
It pointed out that the late Cating’s passing has created a poignant void in the social fabric of the city, much like how his life served as a shining example of dedication to family solidarity, professional competence, faithfulness to the common good, and commitment to public welfare. His departure is a great loss to his family, friends, and fellow Ibaloi tribesmen.” – Gaby B. Keith
