Formal signing of MOU in Tam – Awan Village

BAGUIO CITY – The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was formally signed between the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines Director General Atty. Rowell S. Barba and Jordan Mang-osan, President of Chanum Foundation, Inc. witnessed by the guest panelist are EJ Jacinto – Philippine Art Educators Association, Rene Escalante – Chairman, National Commission for Culture & Arts, and Atty. Trixie Cruz Angeles, artists and from national & local media during the Kapihan hosted by the Philippine Information Agency – CAR on October 6, 2022, at the Tam – Awan Village and as part of the celebration of the 12th Tam – Awan International Arts Festival, the theme: “Hapit Di Aammod: Wisdom in Shapes, Colors, and Words.
Barba delivered his message before the signing
He said, “It is an honor to forge a partnership with the Chanum Foundation, we have just been keeping the Cordillera culture and heritage alive and influential across distant generations and diverse communities. The Cordilleras as we all know pride themselves on the genuine creative artist, an artist who painted the peaceful and exaggerated light of the mountains with sparkling colors, statues fabrics, and words.
One of the testaments of your hard work is the Tam-Awan Village you have built, We thanks all national artist BENCAB together with other artists who establish Tam-Awan which means a vantage point in your local dialect they truly have a very good vantage point when they wanted to see and bring our local artist in the future.
This artistic haven is a must-visit tourist attraction that is a one-to-artistic genus, a genus of the Cordilleras and perhaps even its soul.
The Cordillera highly develops arts culture is a gift not only to your people but also to the entire Philippines, to develop a gifted sense of cultural consciousness.
Today, we celebrate the undying beauty of the Cordilleras arts as an important stray of the Philippine identity like the Tam-Awan village I hope the partnership we zeal today defends your people’s perspective not only on indigenous art but also copyright and intellectual property.
We give us the vantage point on how we can together move forward
to promote and protect our artists, together we would like to see the Cordillera hardest the full rewards for artistic creation and see the intellectual property system in order to authenticity and great value not only in terms of monetary value but profound in terms of its value to Cordillera culture and distinguishing glory.
